4 Easy Ways to Make Eating Healthy Delicious

Do you ever feel like eating healthy requires a lot of effort and you end up craving that chocolate bar or bag of potato chips? Well, eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard or boring. You just have to learn how to make it easy, fun and interesting. Try some of these ideas and see which ones work best for you!

Spice it up!

Who says that healthy food has to taste bland and boring? That’s far from the truth. An awesome way to make healthy food tasty without all the fat and calories is by adding spices to it. That doesn’t mean you have to load your food with salt. Try playing around with all sorts of flavors and pick the ones you like best. You can also use herbs such as basil, parsley and mint to add either a strong or subtle flavor. By the way, adding some kick to your food can actually help you meet your weight loss goals! Check out some of these herbs and seasonings that will boost your metabolism and suppress your appetite while adding loads of flavor to healthy dishes.

Get fruity

If you have a sweet tooth, then fruit is a fantastic way to get your fix without binging on chocolate and candy—and still enjoy the taste. Try substituting your afternoon snack for an apple or other fruit that you can easily toss into your bag. Bored of apples, oranges and bananas? Try changing it up once in awhile. There are loads of tropical fruit like mango, pineapple and papaya that you can cut up in advance and store in containers in the fridge. It might take a few more minutes to shop and prepare at first, but imagine how much less you’ll have to work off those calories from your old snacking habits. At dinner, you can add fruit as a dessert, side dish, or even put a bit into your main dish. For breakfast, try juicing some veggies and adding fruit to flavor. You’ll reap the benefits from vegetables with the taste of fruit juice! Picking delicious fruit that you’re excited to eat everyday will keep you energized and satisfied—without that added guilt.

Hello, Chef!

With our busy schedules, it has become so easy to buy food that’s frozen, packaged, or even already cooked for us. The problem is that convenient doesn’t necessarily mean healthy, and the ones that are advertised as health food usually taste bland—or just not that good. It’s much easier to have healthy food that actually tastes great when you prepare it yourself. If you’re short on time, then why not cook several meals when you have free time and pop them into the freezer? That way you have the convenience of frozen food but you know exactly what went into it and it won’t have that weird texture.

Roast ‘em!

Roasting your food has great health benefits without giving up the flavor from frying. You’ll also be washing less pots and pans! Add more veggies to your diet by roasting vegetables as a side dish for your next dinner. Roasting veggies in the oven using high heat concentrates the flavor and brings out some sweetness as the natural sugars caramelize. All you have to do is cut the veggies down to a uniform size and lay them onto a tray lined with aluminum foil for easy clean-up. Spray or brush a tad bit of olive oil and sprinkle some salt and seasonings and roast until they are soft or browned to your liking. When about to serve, toss the roasted vegetables with some fresh herbs or parmesan and add a spritz of lemon.

So, don’t fall for the myth that healthy food tastes bland. By having fresh, natural ingredients and knowing how to bring out their flavors, you won’t think twice about going back to junk food or store-bought frozen meals.
