7 New Super Ingredients to Try in 2015

We’re a few months into 2015 and there’s already new and exciting ingredients you can include into your everyday diet to boost your metabolism and guide you along your path to Nutrition Revolution. Our team has been testing new and exciting ingredients that we want to share with you! You’ve probably heard of a few of these ingredients before, but you’ll be surprised at just how amazing these different foods are and how they can transform your health. Here are 15 new ingredients we think you should try this upcoming year – links to recipes included!

Coconut Oil

This cooking oil is amazing because it reduces cholesterol, improves your metabolism, and is filled with nutritious fatty acids that promote weight loss. You can substitute coconut oil for whatever oil you normally cook with, because it’s flavor is mild.

In fact, check out this simple guide to cooking with coconut oil for the first time.

Spirulina is an AMAZING superfood that’s been eaten for centuries because of it’s high nutritional value and it’s health benefits.

It’s actually an algae that grows naturally in oceans and salty lakes. It contains a large amount of calcium, niacin, potassium, magnesium, B vitamins and iron.

Spirulina also contains high levels of antioxidants, which can stave off disease and also help prevent cancer.

Use spirulina in your next smoothie for a power-packed boost. If you have the Viance Greens Formula, each serving contains 4,800 mg of green superfood matrix with spirulina.

Chia Seeds

These small but powerful seeds have been consumed for centuries by natives because they can keep you feeling full for an extremely long time. Chia seeds reduce food cravings, help you stay hydrated, lower blood pressure & are rich in Omega-3. Include them in shakes or just eat them straight out of the container!

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia that is touted for its antioxidants and low calorie content. At just 63 calories per 100g it’s a great fruit option for those looking to decrease calorie consumption while still eating well.

Our Vitality Blend has mangosteen included in every serving, which makes it easy to get your daily serving.

Wild Boar

Wild boar is higher in protein and lower in fat than beef. Plus, wild boar is raised in an open, free range environment, which is not only good for the well-being of the animals, but it also increases the flavor of the meat.

Try wild boar by substituting it for traditional pork in your next recipe. Don’t forget to accommodate it’s low fat content, though. Try using a little more cooking oil to make up for the change.

Flax Seed

This powerful plant food was eaten as early as 3000 BC in Babylon. Now it dominates the food scene as one of the healthiest, heart-friendly ingredients available today. Flax seed is packed with Omega-3 fatty acids (heart benefits), Lignans (antioxidants), and fiber (to help digestion).

A simple way to try flax seed this year is mixing it into a smoothie or purchasing flax seed crackers and chips instead of normal potato chips (which you shouldn’t be eating anyway!).

Goji Berries

Goji berries have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, and it’s identity as both a fruit and herb gives it a huge breadth of uses.

These super-berries are an excellent source of antioxidants and many claim they can be a natural remedy for diabetes. Goji berries have a naturally sweet flavor, and to eat them you can either munch on them raw, or soak them in hot water beforehand.

You can use Goji berries in the same way that you use cranberries – in trail mixes, on top of salads, or mixed into yogurts. We created this delicious Goji Berry Cacao Bites recipe as a deliciously healthy dessert.
