Fall is one of the most colorful seasons of the year and the good thing is that your plate can be, too! There’s lots of seasonal veggies and fruits to choose from during autumn, so check out 7 of our top superfoods that will have you heading to your local farmer’s market soon.

1. Apples

You know the old saying, an apple a day… well now you have no excuse with so many colorful options to indulge in this fall. Apples are full of fiber and antioxidants which make them a nutritional superfood year round, but they’re especially popular in the fall when they are in season. Use apples in smoothies, to sweeten up a salad, as a healthy snack, bake some for a tasty dessert, or use as a topping for oatmeal on cold mornings.

2. Brussel Sprouts

Ok, don’t turn your nose away just yet! There’s plenty of ways to prepare these veggies that are delicious and healthy. In fact, we’ve got one here on our site. Full of folate, iron, and vitamin K, brussel sprouts are a superfood and make a great side dish.

3. Cauliflower

This funny looking veggie has lots of uses and is in season most of the year, but is popular during the fall when it’s used in soups and as a side dish. Cauliflower is a great source of vitamin C and phytonutrients that help lower cholesterol. Whatever way you serve it, it’s good for you! We’ve gotten creative and have a few good recipes here for you to try.

4. Squash

This versatile veggie can be prepared as a sweet or savory dish and is a beautiful addition to any meal. However you enjoy it, this superfood has lots of vitamin A and omega-3s. Use squash in salads, casseroles, soups, or even as a baked dessert drizzled with nuts, spices, and honey.
