Is a healthy weight loss program a gluten free one? Can you still achieve healthy weight loss if you don’t completely eliminate gluten from your diet?

Is Limiting Gluten Necessary?

Healthy weight loss is not completely dependent on just gluten. Yes, limiting or even removing gluten from the diet may be helpful for some people. However, for most, it’s not entirely necessary. If you don’t have a medical issue such as celiac disease, or a gluten sensitivity, then you may not even have to think twice about eating gluten.

Some people’s bodies cannot process the gluten found in foods like wheat. These folks have real issues that can cause inflammation and possibly sickness. When these people eliminate gluten from their diets, they can experience radical positive health benefits. However, if you’re not similarly affected by gluten, then cutting it from your diet program may not produce additional healthy weight loss.

What’s The Issue With Gluten?

You may be gluten intolerant, or gluten sensitive if you experience constant gastrointestinal distress, bloating or stomach pain, unexplained hives or itchy skin, or tiredness. Any of these signs could indicate you may have a gluten issue. This is not an exhaustive list, nor does every symptom on this list necessarily relate to gluten. However, trying a gluten free diet for several weeks may lead to healthy weight loss and an improvement in health issues.

Often, the real issue at hand may not even be gluten, itself. It’s the foods that typically contain the gluten, like processed foods, unhealthy sauces and condiments, pizza, doughnuts, cookies and the like. Many of the unhealthy foods we love are the real culprits when it comes to gluten.

Your Relationship with Gluten

If you feel healthy, you don’t have a form of celiac disease, and you want to eat foods containing gluten, then by all means, you can. Of course, it’s a good idea to practice moderation with any foods you eat. Healthy weight loss begins with making healthy foods a larger part of your diet program.
