It’s a new year and it’s time for a new you and a new diet program as well. If you are on a diet program, chances are good that you started with some pretty solid New Year’s Resolutions. Now that we’re well into the New Year, however, have you stuck with your plans? If not, here are some great tips to get you back on track and staying strong.
Track Your Progress
It’s good practice to track any progress and results on your diet program. An easy way to do this is to pick a day of the week that works well for a weight-in and measurements. When you see your progress in black and white, you’ll feel a renewed sense of motivation and you’ll start to feel excitement again about sticking to your plan.
Success also builds upon success, and seeing all your forward movement can make a difference in your mindset and positivity.
Your diet program will benefit greatly from a rewards system. When you achieve certain goals, or you stick to your plan for an allotted amount of time, make sure you reward yourself for all your diligence and hard work. Setting up realistic deadlines that you can meet with reasonable rewards will give you that little extra push you might need to stay on your program.
Rewards can be anything that motivates you such as a manicure or pedicure, a new pair of jeans or a swimsuit, or maybe a piece of jewelry or another coveted item you’ve had your eye on for a while. Make a list of items you can use to motivate yourself and then assign them to points along the way toward your deadline.
Don’t Give Up
Even if you do “fall off the wagon”, all is not lost. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Your diet program is not ruined. One or two “mistakes” won’t derail all your progress. Just get back on track as soon as possible. Don’t expect yourself to be perfect.
