The 9 Healthiest Snacks to Pack When You’re Traveling

So you’re finally on the plane after schlepping through security or stuck on a long road trip and it’s miles until the next stop. Instead of snacking on endless bags of peanuts or fatty fast food, nosh on these healthy snacks to hold you over until the next stop!

1. Veggie sticks

A no-brainer, you can never have enough vegetables which low in calories and fats but contain good amounts of vitamins and minerals. pack celery, carrot, and yellow pepper sticks which contain a good mix of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, beta-carotene, vitamin B-complex, vitamin-C, vitamin-A, and vitamin K.

To satisfy the sweet tooth, choose fruit over candy. Full of antioxidants, fruits are a great alternative to dessert, too. Choose bananas, oranges or apples that are easy to transport and come with their own “wrapper”, making it easy for travel.

A little sweet, a little salty-who doesn’t love that! And you don’t have to feel guilty about crunching on these treats since there are so many brands of baked sweet potato chips out there. And they are high in vitamins A, C, E, and B6, fiber and manganese.

Buy it or make your own, but just have some handy. A good mix of dried fruit, nuts, and carob pieces is sure to satisfy any traveler.

These don’t look so appetizing but are packing a powerful punch. Seaweed snacks are iron rich, high in fiber, low calorie and can also help with digestion-which is key for helping that heavy airplane food go down smoothly!

This tasty Mediterranean treat has so many health benefits, including improved digestive system, cardiovascular health and muscular functions. So why wouldn’t you want to pack this tasty treat? Pack a tub to go with some whole wheat crackers, or use as a dip for your veggie sticks.

Bring some air popped popcorn and rather than drizzling on melted butter, experiment with your favorite seasonings. Try garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, or natural sea salt. Perfect for that inflight movie without all of the calories!

They fit into your pocket or purse, come wrapped, and satisfy just about anyone – easy breezy! Just make sure to read the label and you’re getting a good mix of nutrients and stay away from those ones dipped in chocolate!

 

9. Hard-boiled Eggs

These can be a tasty protein rich treat by themselves or can be added to that measly in-flight salad for an extra boost. Just make sure to grab the hard-boiled ones before heading out the door so there’s no mess in your carry-on bag.
