We always recommend eating loads of vegetables for any well-rounded nutrition plan, but there are some that are our favorites. Take a look at this list of the world’s 10 healthiest veggies and add some to your plate today!

You knew this one had to be on our list! With its versatility and long nutrient list, kale is one of our favorite veggies. You can mix it in your morning smoothies, have it as a side dish, or even snack on kale chips! It’s got fiber, vitamins A, C, and K, as well as folate and calcium. Add it to your diet today!

Made famous by Popeye, but on this list because of all its nutrients, spinach is another favorite of ours. Loaded with vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, folate, magnesium, iron, copper, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin E, calcium, potassium, and vitamin C, spinach is also a very good source of dietary fiber. Fiber should be a part of any weight loss diet plan since it keeps us full longer. Add spinach to your salads for that extra health boost!

Besides just being good for your eyesight, carrots are also known to help prevent cancer. Recent studies show carrots as helping to kill leukemia cells and protect against prostate cancer. Enjoy them on salads or in this tasty dessert of Carrot oatmeal cookies – Yum!

If you’re having any kidney issues, then you might want to add parsley to your green smoothie. It is one of those greens that helps flush out fluids and toxins, making our whole system work better. Vitamins C, B 12, K and A are also in this healthy veggie, so it’s a good idea to add it to your diet now. Try our leek & quinoa patties that have loads of flavor and these health benefits from that green parsley!

Use onions to not only add flavor to your dishes, but to add nutrients too! They contain chromium, which assists in regulating blood sugar and have also been used to reduce inflammation and heal infections. For a healthy snack, our baked onion rings are perfect!

We couldn’t have a veggie list without broccoli! Here’s all the nutrients that are in it and put it on this list: dietary fiber, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin E, manganese, phosphorus, choline, vitamin B1, vitamin A, potassium, and copper. Wow! Need a way to make it tasty? Enjoy broccoli in our reader favorite, cheesy baked broccoli fritters.

Brussel Sprouts

brussel sprouts

Always a favorite at the holiday table, brussel sprouts more vitamin C than oranges, and almost twice as much vitamin K as red cabbage, which should make them a dinner table feature year round! We’ve got a great recipe here for you to try: Brussel sprout salad. Trust us, it’s delish!

These little guys are low in calories compared to beans and pack a powerful nutritional punch. On the list of healthiest veggies with these nutrients – vitamin K, manganese, dietary fiber, vitamin B1, copper, vitamin C, phosphorus, and folate – peas are something that are easy to prepare and super nutritious. Add them to your salads for this health boost.

Bright, red, and full of nutrients, tomatoes can be found on just about any menu so there’s no excuse for not getting your fill of this super healthy veggie. They fight off the bad stuff that comes our way like cigarette smoke since tomatoes contain coumaric acid and chlorogenic acid that work to protect the body from carcinogens. They’ve also got lycopene, which is a natural antioxidant that works to slow the growth of cancerous cells.

Bok Choy

Last but not least, we’ve got bok chop, a favorite veggie used in Asian dishes. Bok choy has just 9 calories a cup and barely a trace of fat, yet has protein, dietary fiber and a long list of all the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs. These nutrients help keep your bones strong, prevent cancer, and aid in heart health. Try adding it to your next stir fry for all of these health benefits!

Keep your plate colorful with these veggies and always remember to keep your fridge stocked with these healthiest veggies to make sure you are staying on track with your weight loss plan!
