Top 5 Vegetables for Weight Loss

How many of us have tried losing weight to no avail? Well add these veggie helpers to your list and the next time you visit your farmer’s market, stuff your bag with these vegetables for weight loss. They each have so many benefits, and we’ve included recipes to help you get started with your weight loss goals. Yeah!

1. Broccoli

Don’t turn your nose up yet! Broccoli is full of nutrients that help with weight loss and overall health. It’s got loads of fiber & calcium, which help with keeping your weight in check. And it also has a powerful phytonutrient called “sulforaphane” that increase testosterone and fights off body fat storage. Add some into your diet with our recipe for shrimp & broccoli stir fry that is super delicious and easy to make for tonight’s dinner!

2. Cabbage

Cabbage is a high fiber, low calorie food that helps you feel full and is low in fat. With only 33 calories per 1 cup serving, this salad staple should be in your diet if you’re trying to lose weight and stay fit. It’s also rich in antioxidants like vitamin C, so it’s a great immune-booster, and the sulphur helps to detoxify the body. Our tasty recipe for cabbage, carrot & apple salad is a great way to add it to your diet.

3. Peppers

These colorful veggies have a metabolism-boosting compound, dihydrocapsiate, which will give you a step up on your weight loss goals. Their high vitamin-C content will also help you lose weight. A cup of sweet red and green peppers serves up to three times the day’s recommended vitamin C—a nutrient that counteracts stress hormones which trigger fat storage around the midsection. How about trying some at tonight’s dinner with these scrumptious Greek stuffed peppers!

4. Spinach

Spinach is just one of those super-powered veggies that should be on your shopping list all of the time because it has so many benefits, including weight loss. The green is overflowing with protein – just one cup of steamed spinach has as much protein as a hard-boiled egg! This nutrient aids post-pump muscle recovery and growth, so it’s great to have after you hit the gym. It’s also full of thylakoids, a compound that’s been shown to significantly reduce cravings and promote weight loss. Wow! Add it in with our cranberry apple spinach salad with sirloin steak for a hearty meal.

5. Onions

And last, but not least, add some of these flavorful veggies to just about any dish for flavor and weight loss benefits. Onions are rich in quercetin, a flavonoid that increase blood flow and activates a protein in the body that helps regulate glucose levels. It also helps blast stored fat and prevents new fat cells from forming. Put ’em in your meat dishes or saute some and put on sandwiches or try our tasty snack recipe for baked onion rings. Yum!

So if you’re on the path to weight loss, kick it up a notch with these awesome veggies. Get out that shopping list, add these vegetables for weight loss, and get on the path to optimal health!
